2017 IRCA State Champs X3!!!

Updated Thursday December 28, 2017 by Heather Hanrahan.

On December 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the Antioch Viking Cheerleaders attended the IRCA (Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association) State Championship Competition.  The Antioch Vikings sent 5 squads to the competition which included:

JR PW 3rd Grade Squad
PW 4th Grade Squad
FW 5th Grade Squad
JV 6th Grade Squad
Varsity 7th/8th Grade Squad

All of the squads were up against the best squads in the state of Illinois for the state title.  On day 1 and 2, the squads competed in the preliminary rounds where the top 3 teams were announced and moved on to the Championship Round on Sunday, December 3rd.

Out of the 5 squads, 4 of the squads made the top three and moved onto the Championship Round.  Our featherweight squad took 4th place and missed moving on by 2/10 of a point.

At the Championship Round, 3 of our squads WON THE STATE TITLE!!!!  JR PW, PW and JV all came home with a 1st place / State Championship Trophy!!  This is a UNBELIEVABLE ACCOMPLISHMENT.  These squads were up against the best competition and towns that are double the size of the town of Antioch. Our Varsity squad was 3rd in the State which is also an incredible accomplishment!!
